School/Tutoring
When a youth is introduced to out-of-home care, whether it be a wilderness program, residential program, foster care, or our own offering of Private Placement; the issues of schooling and education become of great import. Our program believes that socialization and education must be the key components of helping to turn a youths life around. Due to this, we offer an extensive series of options to youth and their families in effort to provide the educational opportunities that will be most conducive to a youths future success and growth. Among these options are: Tutoring, Public School enrollment, Private School enrollment, on-line school enrollment/home schooling. Further, our program will take full responsibility for the enrollment and monitoring of the youths progress, even making available an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) which will itinerate all of your youths strengths, any scholastic weaknesses and time frames and goals for achievement.
We will offer studies, surveys and outcomes that will illustrate the validity and reliability of our educational and behavioral components, including updating you weekly (or more at your request) on your youths educational progress.
Many programs do not provide specific school credit, leaving this responsibility entirely on the working parents. Also, they have no qualms about admitting that academics are not a focus. We view academics and behavioral programming as a hand in hand package that work in conjunction to alleviate all detrimental functioning as thoroughly as possible. Additionally, there are numerous exclusions from these programs (suicide risks, anti social personality disorder, severe eating disorders, tendencies towards violence, which we will consider treating under certain situations).
Team Building and Group Activities will be available to the youth outside of the typical school day. This is due to the premium that our program puts on appropriate Social and Personal skills and learning. In todays world it is often as important or even more important to educate a youth on Independent Living and other related social skills. Due to that we will offer a complex set of learning designed to catapult your youth into a fully functional and appropriate adult hood; a life full of continual learning and individual success.
