WHAT ARE PHOENIX HOMES’ EXPECTATIONS OF THE PROFESSIONAL FOSTER PARENT?
Participate in continued foster care training via monthly meetings, annual conference or computer to complete foster home licensing credit hours requirements.
Willingly follow the State and Phoenix Homes polices and regulations.
Communicate with the foster home staff and supporters regarding the child’s progress, problems, and/or issues that may arise.
Fill out all documentation required by Phoenix Homes on a timely schedule via your computer.
Use respite care to ensure your own health and wellness.
Follow Phoenix Homes discipline procedures.
Arrange appropriate respite care supervision for the foster child.
Provide a safe and nurturing environment conducive for the child’s development.
Respect and support the religious beliefs and culture of the foster child.
Be a positive role model for the child and natural family.
Be consistent, set limits, and adjust your parenting skills to meet the child’s needs.
Understand your role as the child’s advocate.
Follow the medical, dental and vision time frames for the child and policy procedures.
Respect the child’s rights and privacy.
Ask for guidance from staff when you don’t know the answer.
Be open and honest with your caseworker over all issues.
